The NDIS Code of Conduct sets the standards of behaviour for all NDIS providers and workers. At Ability Hope Support Network, we are committed to upholding these standards in everything we do.
What is the NDIS Code of Conduct?
The NDIS Code of Conduct is a set of rules established by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. It outlines how NDIS providers and workers must behave and treat participants.
The Code exists to protect people with disability who receive NDIS-funded supports. It ensures participants are treated with dignity and respect, and that they can access services in a safe environment free from abuse, neglect, violence and exploitation.
All Ability Hope Support Network staff, contractors and volunteers are required to understand, sign and comply with the NDIS Code of Conduct as a condition of their engagement with our organisation.
The 7 Principles
These seven principles form the foundation of safe, ethical and quality disability support across Australia.
Act with respect for individual rights to freedom of expression, self-determination and decision-making in accordance with applicable laws and conventions.
Respect the privacy of people with disability and deliver services in a dignified way that maintains personal privacy at all times.
Provide supports and services in a safe and competent manner, with care and skill, in accordance with relevant laws and accepted professional standards.
Act with integrity, honesty and transparency. Recommend and provide supports appropriate to participant needs. Declare and avoid any real or perceived conflicts of interest.
Promptly take steps to raise and act on concerns about matters that may impact the quality and safety of supports and services provided to people with disability.
Take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to all forms of violence against, and exploitation, neglect and abuse of, people with disability.
Take all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct. Maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times.
